Cranes on top of a building, viewed from below
Satdobato, Lalitpur–15

Shrestha residence

Complete 3,600 sq ft 15 months Item rate
SHEET 02 — MCC-172

A three-storey house on a plot that fell 2.4 m from the road, needing a reinforced retaining wall along two sides before anything else could start. The owner was working in Doha for the entire build and never saw the site until handover.

That is a normal situation in Lalitpur and it changes how a job has to be run: photographs every Friday, a measured bill every month, and no decision taken on site that was not written down first.

What was difficult
Running a job for an owner in a different time zone. We settled on a fixed weekly call and a rule that nothing which changed the cost was ordered without written confirmation. Nine variations went through that way and none of them were disputed.
“I was in Doha for the whole build. Photographs every Friday, a bill every month, and the house was exactly what the drawing said.”
